The 2016 Bay Salsa Festival was the biggest yet, with more classes and more attendants than ever before. More than 400 people attended the weekend with more than 800 workshop attendances. The showcase ran like a well oiled machine, starting on time and pushing through the 30 performances, with over 150 performers, in 2.5 hrs.
The weekend kept its friendly vibe that has become part of its appeal to those who keep coming back. Those who got a chance to sneak off and enjoy the beach during the day, used the energy saved on the dance floor every night. It was a great time to see old friends and the perfect time to meet new friends.
The best thing about last years festival though, was it fundraised the most money yet for the Bay Salsa Travel Grant, open to all Amateur teams, couples and solos, travelling overseas to represent New Zealand on the World stage. So, not only did everyone have a great weekend, they all contributed to supporting their fellow dances to achieve their dance dreams.
