With Festival less than 3 months away, it is definitely time to buy your pass (if you haven’t already done so).
Reason 1: A great line up of classes!!
The draft Workshop Schedule is being finalised with over 30 workshops spread through 4 rooms. Kate has done an amazing job of creating multiple streams to follow:
- Lets get Dancing – these classes are aimed at improving your social dancing, working on technique, musicality and combinations
- Lets try something new – Open level classes that give you a taste of styles that you may not have tried before, with techniques to challenge those that have done the dance before
This is on top of the streams by genre:
- Linear Salsa
The workshop schedule has been put together to be very beginner friendly.
Reason 2: A great first festival
If you have never been to a dance festival before and you are feeling overwhelmed, then Bay Salsa Festival is for you! It is smaller in size than some of the other festivals and focuses on fun and learning, meaning that you can come along and enjoy your first experience with dance festivals and attend more in the future 🙂
Reason 3: Performing
With the New Zealand Salsa Open only a few weeks later, Bay Salsa Festival has become the place to showcase your performance on a real stage and get rid of those nerves. The Everybody Dance Now Showcase (which is Bay Salsa Festival’s Saturday night show) has been growing from strength to strength and the support that each team gives the others in this non-competitive environment has meant the performances have been outstanding. You also get to attend the rest of festival for a much reduced cost of $85*. If your team is not currently coming along then talk to your team manager now – spaces are filling fast and entries close 1st October.
Reason 4: A great place to relax
If this is not your first festival (or even your 10th) and classes aren’t for you then what better way to spend your weekend than to party all night and relax on the beach during the day 🙂 Tauranga’s beaches are some of the best in New Zealand and if you are energetic you can climb Mauao and enjoy the wonderful views.
Reason 5: Its for a good cause
Bay Salsa Festival puts the profits of each festival into a contested travel fund governed by Bay Salsa for teams, couples and soloists travelling overseas to compete and perform. In the last couple of years we have given over $5000 in grants to help these teams make this happen. That means that you attending the festival is helping these people get to these events to represent New Zealand on the World stage.
Reason 6: Prices go up in October
The last reason is price. Early Bird tickets finish at the end of September, so if you are thinking about going then buy now to save money.
Look out for our blogs in the next couple of weeks on the Teachers in the different genres.
With all these reasons we will see you there 🙂
